Santiago de Cuba Carta Blanca develops its character through three years of maturation in white oak barrels. The blend brings together aged distillates; Cuban rum undergoes a further period of barrel maturation after blending. White does not mean unaged here.

Hints of freshly cut sugar cane contribute to its light character. At 38% alcohol, Carta Blanca works as a base for cocktails such as the Daiquiri and can also be enjoyed over ice. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes without gift packaging.

Distillery/Bottler:

The city of Santiago de Cuba, in the southeast of the island, is closely linked to the origins of Ron Ligero Cubano. This tradition of light Cuban rum dates back to 1862 there. The Oriente region lies between mountains and sea; its warm, humid climate influences both sugar cane cultivation and barrel maturation.

For Santiago de Cuba rums, sugar cane from southeastern Cuba is processed into molasses. After fermentation and distillation, the distillate is filtered through charcoal. Maturation takes place in white oak barrels. When selecting barrels and blending, the Maestros del Ron Cubano use barrels that have been in service for differing lengths of time to bring together varied flavour nuances. Their knowledge has been passed down for more than eight generations.
