High West Rendezvous Rye combines different rye whiskeys in a blend of grain spice, herbal notes and sweet fruit. The whiskeys mature for four to seven years in new oak casks. For this blend, High West combines whiskeys produced by continuous column distillation with its own pot-distilled rye.

The two grain recipes bring different qualities to the blend: the MGP whiskey uses 95% rye and 5% malted barley, while High West uses 80% rye and 20% malted rye for its own contribution. The mature rye base is complemented by High West's own pot-distilled whiskey, adding complexity and smoothness to the blend. Rendezvous Rye is bottled at 46% without chill filtration and contains no colouring.

Alongside cinnamon, mint and caramel, muscovado sugar, anise and structured woody notes shape this whiskey's character. Hints of rye bread also emerge in the finish. The name Rendezvous recalls the annual gatherings of trappers and traders in Utah's Cache Valley during the early 19th century. The whiskey can be enjoyed neat or in classic cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla and sweet caramel meet clove and cinnamon. Green apple and peppermint complement the spicy aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, candied fruit combines with creamy caramel and pronounced rye notes. Cinnamon adds a distinctive spicy accent, while fennel contributes a delicate herbal note.
• Finish: The long finish is marked by robust rye and cinnamon. A hint of peppermint lingers.

Distillery/Bottler:

High West is based in Utah and was the state's first distillery since 1870. Rendezvous Rye was the house's first whiskey release. High West operates as both a distillery and a blending house, combining its own spirits with whiskeys from other distilleries. The components of Rendezvous Rye come from MGP and High West.

Developing the blends begins with sensory assessment of the house's own and sourced whiskeys in the laboratory. The team evaluates their distillate character, the influence of cask maturation and distinctive flavour qualities. The components are then brought together step by step. Once the blend has been made, a final sensory check takes place before bottling.
