Jimmy Rack Batch 01 is a cask-strength Tennessee Straight Rye drawn from ten barrels. Its mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whiskey matured for three years and six months in new American oak barrels, passed twice through maple charcoal filtration and was bottled in December 2023 at 61.15%. It is not chill-filtered.

Its character combines floral and peppery notes with dark bread, maple syrup, toasted oak and roasted aromas. The pronounced spice carries through to the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with orange blossom, geranium and pink pepper, accompanied by a slightly soapy note and poppy seeds in the background. With water, dark bread, sponge cake and maple syrup emerge. Toasted oak, grilled almonds, sawdust and buttery rye bread are also apparent.
• Palate: On the palate, the whiskey is creamy and fruity, with fruit notes reminiscent of mezcal sweets and poppy-seed lollipops. Dry toasted oak, grilled notes, clove and cinnamon add to the flavour. With water, the fruity and floral notes remain before Timut, grey and black pepper emerge.
• Finish: The finish is full and intense; oak and roasted aromas linger alongside complex spice and a note reminiscent of spiced bread.

Distillery/Bottler:

J. Arthur Rackham is the Master Maker and Blender behind Daddy Rack and is also responsible for this Jimmy Rack release. His career in spirits began in 1968 with training at Camus in Cognac; he later worked with Cognac, Armagnac and Calvados, among other spirits. The name Daddy Rack comes from a nickname given to him by his daughter Grace.

Jimmy Rack is one of the brand’s rye releases. Daddy Rack Whiskey Co. bottles the whiskey in Columbia, Tennessee.
