Special Features:

Millstone Special #37 is a 20-year-old rye whisky matured in a single virgin American oak cask. The whisky was distilled on 11 January 2005 and bottled on 20 August 2025 at 48.8%. This single cask yielded only 135 bottles of 0.7 litres each. The whisky has no added colouring and is non-chill-filtered.

Rye bread forms the spicy core. Passion fruit and overripe banana give the whisky a distinctly exotic character, while vanilla, coconut, oak and caramelised mandarin peel provide sweeter accents. Nuts, raisins and toffee emerge on the palate before oak and dark chocolate shape the long finish. The whisky is not smoky.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, spicy rye bread, passion fruit and overripe banana combine with vanilla, coconut, oak and caramelised mandarin peel.
• Palate: On the palate, bold rye spice and sweet vanilla meet nuts, raisins and toffee.
• Finish: Oak, dark chocolate and lingering nuttiness carry the long, warm finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Zuidam Distillers produced the whisky in Baarle-Nassau, matured it in a single cask and bottled it as Millstone Special #37. Fred and Helene van Zuidam began professional production in 1976; today, their sons Patrick and Gilbert run the family business. Patrick began his first whisky experiments in 1996. The Millstone brand name refers to the Dutch windmills that Zuidam uses to grind its grain. For Millstone, the distillery employs a seven-day fermentation and slow distillation in small copper pot stills to create a fruity, complex new-make spirit.
