Special Features:

American oak ex-bourbon casks and European oak Oloroso sherry casks shape this 15-year-old Islay single malt. Bright vanilla and fruit sit alongside nuts, dark chocolate and gentle smoke. The whisky is bottled at 43% and comes in gift packaging.

Stewed apples and pastry bring a warm, fruity character, complemented by cinnamon and sultanas. Candied orange, blackberry jam and a salty sea breeze add distinct accents, while fresh wood smoke defines the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla and toasted almonds meet stewed apples and warm pastry. Cinnamon, sultanas and dark chocolate round out the aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, candied orange, toasted walnuts and blackberry jam mingle with a salty sea breeze.
• Finish: The long finish recalls fresh wood smoke from a smouldering fire.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bowmore stands on Loch Indaal on Islay and has been documented since 1779. The distillery has its own floor maltings: the barley is turned by hand as it germinates before being dried in the kiln. There, peat smoke contributes to the characteristic smoky notes of Bowmore whiskies.

Fermentation takes place in six tall Oregon pine washbacks. Distillation then takes place in four stills; only the selected heart of the distillate goes into casks. Bowmore's warehouses include the historic No. 1 Vaults, below sea level on the shore of Loch Indaal. Not every whisky from the distillery matures there.
