Special Features:

This Glenburgie matured for more than 25 years in a single Hogshead. Distilled in 1995, it was selected by La Maison du Whisky from Hogshead 6714 for the fourteenth Artist release and bottled in 2024 at 54.7%. The release comprises 194 bottles. This single malt is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.

Barley forms the sensory core of this bottling. Fruit, gentle spices, honeyed sweetness and herbs complement its cereal character and lend it freshness. The Artist #14 Rothes Glen edition brings together single-cask selection and the art of Victor Ekpuk.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is rich and powerful. Pineapple, mirabelle plum and pear mingle with vanilla, green barley and white mint. Cinnamon provides a gentle spicy accent, while acacia honey adds sweetness. With air, white chocolate, coconut and almond milk emerge.
• Palate: The whisky is delicate and supple on the palate, with a very light medicinal ointment note. Malted barley dominates at first. Candied lemon, cane sugar and ripe banana gradually emerge, making the flavour both more tart and sweeter.
• Finish: The long finish combines a delicate liquorice note with the freshness of verbena and sage. Calisson confectionery, candied pear and toast accompany the lingering flavours, which fade with menthol-like and vanilla notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenburgie is located near Forres in Speyside. Built in 1829 as Kilnflat, the distillery has borne its present name since 1878, taking it from nearby Burgie Castle. It was rebuilt close to its original site in 2003, and two stills were added in 2006. Glenburgie belongs to Chivas Brothers and, through it, Pernod Ricard. A large proportion of its malt is used in Ballantine’s.

La Maison du Whisky launched the Artist range in 2011. Whiskies for these limited single-cask bottlings are selected from Signatory Vintage’s warehouses and bottled at natural cask strength without filtration or added colouring. Artists create new labels for each release. For this Glenburgie, the distillery produced the malt, while La Maison du Whisky selected the cask and released the whisky drawn from it as an independent bottling for Artist #14.
