Oloroso sherry cask maturation shapes this ten-year-old Glenfarclas from the Classic Range. Malt and sherry sweetness form the core of its flavour, accompanied by subtle fruit and spice notes. Despite this cask influence, the whisky remains light on the palate.

This Single Malt is bottled at 40% alcohol without added colouring or chill filtration. The straw-gold whisky comes in a 0.7-litre bottle presented in a red gift tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sweet sherry notes mingle with malt and gentle spice on the nose. Warming the glass slightly brings out honey, vanilla and pear drops more clearly.
• Palate: The whisky is light on the palate, with malty flavour and sherry sweetness. Subtle hints of dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves complete the interplay.
• Finish: The finish is long and soft, with lingering spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfarclas lies in Speyside at the foot of Ben Rinnes, whose slopes supply the distillery's spring water. Its Gaelic name roughly means valley of the green pasture. Founded in 1836, the distillery has belonged to the Grant family since John Grant purchased it in 1865 and remains independently run.

The distillery uses double distillation in direct-fired pot stills. For its sherry casks, John Grant selects European oak casks previously used to mature Oloroso at a family-run Spanish bodega. Long-term stockholding is also part of the distillery's history: when a major contract for blended whisky ended in the late 1960s, George S. Grant had more whisky set aside for the distillery's own bottlings. This decision laid the foundation for its later extensive stocks of older vintages.
