The twelve-year-old Glenglassaugh is the age-stated heart of the coastal collection introduced in 2023. For this official bottling, the whisky matures in bourbon, sherry and red wine casks. This combination brings together the distillery's lush, tropical-fruit character and different cask influences. At 45%, the Single Malt combines ripe fruit and creamy impressions with a maritime accent.

Alongside the fruit, floral and nutty impressions shape the whisky. A salty note contrasts with the sweetness, while caramel and chocolatey nut notes emerge in the finish. The coastal character thus remains discernible alongside the rich fruit and dessert notes.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe apricot and fig mingle with toasted vanilla and tropical blossoms. A warm sea breeze complements the sweet fruit notes.
• Palate: On the palate, candied pistachio, date and sweet fig give way to Morello cherry and whipped cream. An impression of fresh coastal air accompanies them.
• Finish: The finish reveals gentle salted caramel and chocolate-covered nuts with candied pistachio. This combination recalls a crunchy caramel confection coated in chocolate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenglassaugh Distillery lies on Scotland's northeast coast between Sandend and Portsoy. Colonel James Moir founded it in 1875 beside the Glassaugh Burn. Its buildings include traditional low-rise dunnage warehouses and a stillhouse built at a later date.

After several changes of ownership, the distillery closed in 1907. Highland Distilleries brought it back into operation in 1959 with a new production building to make malt whisky for blends. Production ceased again in 1986, while the existing whiskies continued to mature in the warehouses. Following repairs to the equipment, fresh spirit began flowing from the stills again in December 2008. Brown-Forman acquired Glenglassaugh in 2016. With the twelve-year-old, Sandend and Portsoy, the range took a new direction in 2023, focusing on the distillery's coastal character.
