Islay #3 combines bold smoke with dark fruit and the influence of Oloroso sherry casks. That Boutique-y Whisky Company released this thirteen-year-old blended malt as Batch 5 in the Boutique-y Records series. The release comprises 296 numbered bottles, with the whisky bottled at 47.8% in 0.5-litre bottles.

The whisky is bottled without added colouring or chill filtration and comes in gift packaging. Its illustrated label combines a film scene with deliberately introduced digital glitches, a tongue-in-cheek reference to an unauthorised download.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Pronounced smoke sits alongside a cool menthol note on the nose, joined by fruity sweetness, rum-soaked raisins and mocha.
• Palate: Sweetness and smoke combine with plums and blackberry jam on the palate. Burnt buttered toast complements the fruit, while the smoke remains present.
• Finish: Salted butter and malt loaf appear on the finish. The smoke recalls the last embers of a bonfire.

Founded in 2012, That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler releasing limited batches of single malts, grain whiskies and bourbons from various countries. It also creates blended malts and blended whiskies. Its range includes bottlings from distilleries that ceased operating long ago.
