The Kilmory Edition showcases Lagg's house style, pairing peated spirit with maturation exclusively in American oak First Fill Bourbon Barrels. Following their use for bourbon, these casks are used to mature Scotch whisky for the first time. They contribute creamy vanilla, toasted oak and sweet spice notes that complement the peat smoke.

Kilmory is the distillery's first permanent core-range bottling. This single malt is bottled at 46%, retaining its natural colour and undergoing no chill filtration. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, bonfire smoke mingles with heather and the scent of charred citrus fruit.
• Palate: Lively citrus fruit leads on the palate, accompanied by subtle bonfire smoke.
• Finish: The long finish leaves lingering notes of citrus, smoke and vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Lagg began operating in 2019 in the south of the Isle of Arran. Its sister distillery, Lochranza, lies at the other end of the island. With Lagg, the company expanded its whisky production to include a deliberately peat-forward single malt style.

For the two bottlings in Lagg's core range, the distillery uses malted Concerto barley and water from its own borehole. Its choice of yeasts and fermentation duration is intended to produce a full-bodied spirit with a lively, fresh character. In Kilmory, this spirit provides the foundation for the interplay between peat and the creamy vanilla influence of American oak.
