Four Oak brings together whiskies from four cask types in a travel-retail bottling with a velvety texture: ex-bourbon barrels, 19th-century-style Quarter Casks, European oak hogsheads and new American oak casks. The new American oak adds sweet vanilla aromas to the interplay of medicinal peat smoke and seaweed.

This official Laphroaig bottling contains 1 litre of whisky at 40% alcohol and comes in gift packaging. It is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, powerful peat smoke meets stewed fruit and warm, toasted vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, peat smoke and smouldering oak combine with nuances of seaweed, pine and soft buttercream.
• Finish: Peat smoke lingers on the finish, accompanied by a hint of salty liquorice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Laphroaig makes its whisky on the Scottish island of Islay. On its own malting floors, barley previously soaked in water from the Kilbride Stream is turned daily. The damp malt then absorbs smoke from Islay peat for around ten to twelve hours. The distillery burns the peat at a comparatively low temperature and smokes the malt before drying it. This cold smoking contributes to the whisky's tarry character.
