Special Features:

This Linkwood matured for 31 years in a single barrel and was selected for The Single Malts of Scotland's Director's Special range. Just 140 bottles were released, bottled at a cask strength of 49.6%. The single malt is non-chill filtered and contains no colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in a wooden box.

Fruity dessert notes and delicate pastries shape the flavour profile. White chocolate and almond add to this sweet side, while dry white wine on the palate and cigar-box wood on the finish provide a contrast.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, peach Bellini and choux pastry mingle with white chocolate and a sweet, fruity cream filling. Sugar-dusted shortbread and sugared almonds add further notes.
• Palate: On the palate, peach and pear fondant meet white chocolate and buttery biscuit notes. Clear notes of dry white wine emerge towards the end.
• Finish: The finish is long and fruity. As it fades, impressions of dried barley and old cigar-box wood linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Linkwood stands on the outskirts of Elgin in Speyside. Peter Brown founded the distillery in 1821, and production began four years later. In 1971, a second distillery with four stills was built beside the older facility. The two sites were known as Linkwood A and Linkwood B. Regular production at the older facility ended in 1985, although experimental distillation took place there during the 1990s.

Elixir Distillers is responsible for the independent bottlings under The Single Malts of Scotland brand. The range has presented selected single casks since 2005, with small-batch bottlings also forming part of the portfolio. The whiskies in the casks are tasted before selection, with a focus on each distillery's individual character and the whisky's stage of maturation. The whiskies are bottled without chill filtration or colouring.
