Special Features:

This Littlemill belongs to the Artist #13 selection of single malts aged over thirty years. Distilled in 1989, the whisky matured in hogshead number 29 before being bottled by La Maison du Whisky in 2023. The single cask yielded 238 bottles, each containing 0.7 litres at 53.1% alcohol. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Artist #13 forms part of the New Vibrations collection. Taiwanese artist Wang Yung Chiu was chosen to create the labels for the selection of whiskies aged over thirty years. The edition thus combines a cask-strength single-cask bottling with a specially created artistic presentation. The whisky comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Vanilla and lemon bring liveliness to the nose. With air, lily of the valley, lilies, coconut and curry emerge. Pineapple and banana mingle with cardamom, cloves and the scent of verbena.
• Palate: The opening is full-bodied, with passion fruit, lychee and melon. The heat of Piment d’Espelette joins saffron and herbal notes of cut hay and alfalfa. The mid-palate becomes fuller still. Towards the end of the palate, toffee and milky coffee lend a refreshing touch.
• Finish: The long, substantial finish retains the tropical fruitiness and opens with toasted tobacco notes and liquorice. Orris butter, fresh walnut and gentian follow. A pleasant malty, chocolatey bitterness remains at the end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Littlemill's history on the River Clyde stretches back to the 18th century. American chemist and entrepreneur Duncan Thomas initiated a major technical transformation when he reopened the distillery in 1931. He switched from triple to double distillation and had hybrid stills installed: copper pot stills were combined with rectifying columns instead of the usual swan necks. This design allowed more precise control over distillation and the production of different whisky styles. The distillery closed in 1994, and a fire destroyed the remaining buildings in 2004.

La Maison du Whisky is responsible for this independent bottling. Established in 2011, the Artist series brings together single-cask selection and changing artistic labels. When selecting casks, the house considers the distillery, cask type, age and alcohol strength; a chosen artist then creates the visual identity of each collection. The whiskies in the series are bottled at cask strength.
