MacPhail's 30 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from a deliberately unnamed distillery, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 46%. The malt was distilled to the Elgin company's requirements and matured in its own casks, made to its specifications. Thirty years of cask maturation bring together sweet sherry influence, fruit notes and oak.

The whisky is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and is presented in a premium box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, stewed fruit and apple combine with toasted nuts and a subtle chocolate note. Honeycomb and dried apricot add further aromas.
• Palate: The palate opens with spice, followed by blackberry and apple. Raspberry adds to the fruit notes, while milk chocolate, mandarin and oak also emerge.
• Finish: The medium-long finish offers a hint of menthol, cocoa notes and a lingering cola note.

Distillery/Bottler:

The undisclosed Speyside distillery produces the malt; as the independent bottler, Gordon & MacPhail is responsible for the cask specifications, maturation and bottling. For MacPhail's, the company commissions distillation to its own requirements. The whisky matures in the company's own casks, either at the original distillery or in its warehouse in Elgin. Elgin is also where the company began: its shop on South Street has been there since 1895.
