Distilled in 2008, this Miltonduff initially matured in bourbon hogsheads.
It then spent five years in two first-fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads and two first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads. The whisky from the four finishing casks was subsequently brought back together. Murray McDavid released this 15-year-old single malt in spring 2024 as part of the Benchmark range, with an outturn of 1,625 bottles at 53.9%.
The sherry casks come from Jerez. During the extended finishing period, the influences of European oak and the sherry previously held in the casks combined with the fruit-forward spirit. The whisky was bottled without chill filtration or added colouring.

Miltonduff Distillery produces this Speyside malt. Established in 1824 in a former mill, the distillery supplies an important malt for Ballantine’s. For this independent bottling, Murray McDavid handled the cask selection, the split finishing in the two types of sherry cask and the final marrying of the whisky portions. The Benchmark range puts both distillery character and carefully chosen cask maturation at its centre.
Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by London wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin, together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Their wine expertise shaped the use of different finishing casks, particularly high-quality wine casks. Today, the independent bottler belongs to Aceo Ltd. and is based on the grounds of Coleburn Distillery in Speyside.
