Special Features:

A nine-month finish in a sherry octave gives this Miltonduff notes of dark fruit, chocolate and sweet spice. The small cask size increases the influence of the wood, while apple notes and floral accents remain discernible. The whisky was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2024 after a total of 13 years as a Germany Exclusive.

This single-cask bottling from cask number 8343619 belongs to Duncan Taylor’s The Octave range. Just 90 bottles were released at 54.3% alcohol, without chill filtration or added colouring. This non-smoky single malt comes in a presentation tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, the fruit recalls punch, alongside chocolate-covered orange, raisins and violets. Hints of vanilla and oak round out the bouquet.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet figs and apple compote combine with dark chocolate and fresh bell pepper. Spice notes complement the balanced flavour, with subtle hints of green tea and honey.
• Finish: Dried fruit and floral accents linger for a long time. The finish is warming, with a light herbal note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Miltonduff lies outside Elgin in Speyside. Founded in 1824 on the site of a former mill, the distillery belongs to Chivas Brothers. Its malt whisky is an important component of Ballantine’s. Miltonduff produced the single malt for this edition, while Duncan Taylor is responsible for the independent bottling.

Duncan Taylor is a family-run company with roots in trading and brokering Scotch whisky casks in Glasgow. Over the decades, it built up an extensive stock of old and rare casks. In Huntly, Duncan Taylor has its own cask warehouses, cooperage and bottling facility. This infrastructure brings together whisky storage, work on the casks and bottling.
