This Ron Larimar gains its smoky accent from finishing in casks that previously held heavily peated Scottish single malt. The rum first matures in American oak casks. The subsequent finish adds smoke, fruit and herbs to its vanilla and toffee notes. This five-year-old rum is bottled at 40% in 0.7 litres.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla and the sweetness of orchard fruit mingle with cigar smoke and toasted coconut. Subtle herbal notes add further detail.
• Palate: On the palate, creamy oak notes and fresh pear meet cooked agave. Integrated peat smoke and hints of lime zest complement the flavours.
• Finish: Sooty campfire notes and grilled pineapple remain present on the finish. Walnut and clove linger on the tongue.

Ron Larimar is part of the Angus Dundee Distillers brand portfolio. Its concept combines Dominican rum with a second maturation period in Scotland’s cooler climate and the whisky cask expertise found there. The brand takes its name from larimar, a stone found only in the Dominican Republic. Its blue hues also inspire the brand’s design.
