Special Features:

Finishing in three different types of sherry cask gives this whisky its distinctive maturation influence. It first matures in American ex-bourbon casks before being finished in selected casks previously seasoned with sherry, sourced from cooperages in southern Spain. This finishing stage complements Tamnavulin’s sweet, fruity distillery character.

Alongside its fruity notes, the whisky offers gentle spice and hints of toffee pudding. This official bottling has an alcohol content of 40% and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla, caramel and banana mingle with sweet milk chocolate. A delicate note of fresh ginger adds to the aroma.
• Palate: Maple syrup, raisins and orange come together on the palate, accompanied by subtle notes of apricot and melon.
• Finish: The rich finish reveals fruitcake and ripe apricots.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tamnavulin stands in Scotland’s Speyside region on the site of a 16th-century wool-carding mill. The old mill still stands today, and its wooden waterwheel also appears on the brand’s bottles. The distillery opened in 1966 and underwent extensive renovation in 2007.

In 2010, Tamnavulin changed the shape of its stills to produce a richer new-make spirit for maturation in wine casks. Production involves two distillations in copper pot stills. The heart of the distillate is selected for cask maturation, while the heads and tails are redistilled. Initial maturation in American ex-bourbon casks followed by a finishing stage is a defining feature of the range.
