Savu Cask Strength combines bourbon-led maturation with gentle peat smoke. Teerenpeli uses peated whisky malt and Salpausselkä groundwater for this Finnish single malt. Maturation takes place in selected bourbon and sherry casks in an 80:20 ratio. This balance was developed through several tastings with customers and brand ambassadors.

The cask strength of 58.5% supports a powerful, balanced flavour in which malty sweetness contrasts with salty liquorice. Fruity dessert notes complement the restrained smoke. The whisky has no added colouring and is not chill-filtered. The 0.5-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla and raspberries meet a hint of dried fruit and floral heather. Delicate smoke stays in the background, while salty liquorice adds to the aromas.
• Palate: The whisky is powerful and full-bodied on the palate. Creamy caramel and ripe strawberries bring a rich sweetness, while dark mocha adds bitter accents. Pronounced spice and gentle peat complement the interplay, with salty liquorice contrasting with the malty sweetness.
• Finish: Liquorice lingers through the long finish. A delicate sweetness and subtle smoke accompany the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

The family-run Teerenpeli Distillery was founded in 2002 by Anssi Pyysing in Lahti, Finland. Its first distillery was established in the Taivaanranta restaurant in the city centre. Since 2015, the larger Lotila site beside the Teerenpeli brewery has provided additional production capacity. Taivaanranta remains in operation for smaller special batches and the development of new bottlings. Distillation uses traditional copper pot stills made in Scotland.

Teerenpeli supplies the heat for its beer and whisky production from its own wood-pellet heating plant. The pellets come from Versowood's factory in Vierumäki, around 25 kilometres away, and are made from sawdust, a by-product of the sawmill industry. The plant thus uses a regional residual material as a renewable energy source.
