Special Features:

Savu is Teerenpeli’s first smoky whisky in its permanent range. The distillery makes this single malt with peated malt at around 30 ppm and groundwater from the Lahti region. The miniature bottle contains 0.05 litres of Savu at 43% alcohol; its smaller size does not change the recipe.

Around 80% of the whisky matures in former bourbon casks and 20% in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The cask combination was chosen through blind tastings with brand ambassadors and visitors. It brings together fruity and malty-sweet notes with gentle smoke, while a salty salmiak note provides a distinct contrast on the palate.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh fruit, especially peach, and malt mingle with subtle oak spice and light peat smoke reminiscent of a campfire.
• Palate: Savu is soft and balanced on the palate: apple juice, malty sweetness and buttery caramel meet smoke, a tarry note and salty salmiak spice.
• Finish: Gentle smoke and fruity sweetness linger through the medium-length finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Anssi and Marianne Pyysing founded Teerenpeli in Lahti in 1994. Their first pub was followed by a brewery, and the family-run whisky distillery began operating in 2002. Its original distillery is in the city centre; since 2015, a larger facility has operated beside the brewery. Teerenpeli distils in copper pot stills from Scotland and matures its whisky in oak casks. Jaakko Joki oversees distillation, follows production from malt selection to bottling, and helps select the casks. Savu is bottled by the distillery itself.
