Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks shape this eight-year-old Tomatin from the travel retail range. Vanilla and orchard fruit notes develop into darker fruit flavours, accompanied by ginger and cinnamon. This Highland Single Malt is bottled at 40% in a 1-litre bottle and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Baked apples and pears mingle with sweet vanilla on the nose.
• Palate: The light, soft texture is distinctly creamy, yet offers some grip. Minty fruit and basil define the mid-palate; a little water brings additional impressions of ice cream and pineapple chunks.
• Finish: The finish combines sweetness with the gentle spice of ginger and cinnamon.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomatin Distillery is situated among the Monadhliath Mountains in the Scottish Highlands. It uses soft water from the Alt-na-Frith stream and distils in tall, slender copper pot stills. Its high-altitude warehouses provide a cool, stable environment for cask maturation.

Founded in 1897, the distillery became a major supplier of whisky for blends during the whisky boom. By 1974, it had 23 stills. Following a financial crisis, Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co. acquired the distillery in 1986 and established The Tomatin Distillery Co. Ltd. From 2002 onwards, unused stills were removed, leaving twelve. Tomatin thus shifted its focus from large-scale production for blends to developing its own single malts.
