Special Features:

Peated malted barley gives this Tomintoul its smoky character. Peaty Tang reveals an unusual side of Speyside: its pronounced smoke complements the gentle malt character rather than masking it.

The whisky matures for 15 years in carefully selected oak casks. Its combination of smoke, creamy sweetness and mild spice defines this bottling. It is offered at 40% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in a presentation tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, gentle smoke evokes heather. Creamy sweetness and spicy oak notes provide balance.
• Palate: Smoke is clearly present on the palate. Gentle malt notes and mild spice round it out.
• Finish: The finish remains soft and smoky for a long time, accompanied by a hint of barley sugar.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomintoul is situated in Speyside, within the Cairngorms National Park. The distillery uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring. Single malt has been produced here since 1965; in August 2000, Angus Dundee Distillers acquired the distillery from Whyte & Mackay.

Master Distiller Robert Fleming has worked with Tomintoul since 1990 and represents the fourth generation of a family making whisky in Speyside. His many years of work connect the distillery’s history with its present-day cask selection and oversight of maturation.
