Special Features:

A first-fill Oloroso sherry butt shaped this Tomintoul throughout its 30 years of maturation. The single malt was distilled in May 1995. Signatory Vintage selected cask #6 for Symington's Choice within the Cask Strength Collection and bottled the whisky in May 2025 at a cask strength of 50.7%. The single cask yielded 565 bottles. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring; the bottle comes in a metal tin.

Maturation in Oloroso wood brings together dark sherry sweetness and ripe notes that gradually turn drier. Dried fruit and sweet pastry give way to leather, oak spice and fine tannins. The long maturation remains evident alongside the fruit.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals dried figs, raisins, nougat, toffee and fruitcake. Leather, dark chocolate and the spice of old oak give definition to the sherry aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, dark honey, cinnamon and roasted hazelnuts mingle with mocha, bitter chocolate and ripe damson plum. Tobacco leaves and oak spice give structure to the full-bodied whisky.
• Finish: The finish lingers, brings warmth and becomes elegantly dry. Sherry notes, vanilla and fine oak tannins remain as the dark fruit fades into spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomintoul Distillery was founded in 1965 and lies near the village of Tomintoul in Cairngorms National Park. The distillery points to water from the Ballantruan spring and its tall stills as factors behind its gentle style. Master Distiller Robert Fleming has worked at Tomintoul for more than 30 years.

Signatory Vintage is an independent bottler founded by Andrew Symington and his brother in 1988. The company later moved its operations to Edradour in Pitlochry and places individual cask selections at the heart of its work. For this Tomintoul, Signatory selected the Oloroso butt and bottled its whisky for Symington's Choice.
