Special Features:

This Tomintoul from the Connoisseurs Choice range matured for 22 years in a refill American hogshead. Distilled in 2001, the whisky was bottled from cask 6268 on 10 January 2024. The single cask yielded 242 bottles at 54.5% alcohol. The whisky has natural colour and was not chill-filtered.

Fresh citrus and fruit notes sit alongside roasted nuts and oak. On the palate, pear, butterscotch and coconut come to the fore, complemented by white chocolate and citrus peel. Fresh tropical fruit persists on the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, lively citrus notes mingle with red apple and mango. Roasted peanuts give way to a floral undertone and toasted oak.
• Palate: The whisky feels velvety on the palate: sweet poached pear and butterscotch lead into coconut. White chocolate emerges alongside lemon and lime peel.
• Finish: Fresh tropical fruit persists through the medium-bodied finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomintoul Distillery was founded in 1964 by W&S Strong and Hay & MacLeod on the River Avon, south of Glenlivet. Ten years later, the Speyside distillery doubled its number of stills from two to four. It has belonged to Angus Dundee Distillers since 2000.

Gordon & MacPhail has been based in Elgin since 1895. As an independent bottler, it matures spirits from Scottish distilleries in selected casks. The company has casks made to its own specifications and decides when a whisky is ready for bottling. George Urquhart introduced the Connoisseurs Choice range in 1968.
