Special Features:

Finishing in Portuguese Tawny Port barriques adds bold fruit notes to this Tomintoul. The Speyside single malt was distilled in 2008 and matured for a total of 15 years, initially in American oak ex-bourbon casks. For the subsequent finishing period, Master Distiller Robert Fleming sourced specially selected Tawny Port barriques from Portugal. The whisky is bottled at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cooked fruit and cinnamon pastries mingle with candied cherries, dark chocolate and cloves.
• Palate: On the palate, baked strawberries, rhubarb compote and vanilla pudding meet sweet nougat, candied almonds and cocoa powder.
• Finish: The finish is nutty and warming. Coffee cake, ripe blackberries, walnuts and dark chocolate linger on the tongue.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomintoul was founded in 1965 near the village of the same name in the Cairngorms National Park. Water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills are defining features of the distillery's production and contribute to its smooth, balanced house style. Master Distiller Robert Fleming comes from a family with four generations of distilling in Speyside and has overseen Tomintoul for more than thirty years. The distillery has belonged to Angus Dundee Distillers since August 2000. Tomintoul produces the single malt, which then matures in casks. This Tawny Port release is an official bottling.
