For Tomintoul 21 Year Old, Master Distiller Robert Fleming selects American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The long maturation complements a non-smoky character that brings together fruit, sweetness and spicy wood notes. The single malt is bottled at 40% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle and presented in a premium box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is mature and expressive. Soft nougat, red grapefruit, sweets and dried cranberries mingle with a fresh herbal note.
• Palate: The palate reveals baked apple, honeycomb, orange peel, Danish pastries and Turkish delight. Sweet, warming toffee complements these impressions, while white pepper and oak spice provide a spicy counterpoint.
• Finish: The finish feels fresh and tingling. Apple strudel, spicy cedarwood notes and cinnamon linger on the tongue.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery lies in the Cairngorms National Park near the village of the same name, the highest in the Scottish Highlands. It uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring and distils in tall stills. Robert Fleming comes from a family of Speyside distillers spanning four generations and has led whisky production at Tomintoul for more than three decades. Together with his team, he oversees the production of the single malts; for the 21-year-old whisky, he also selects the bourbon casks.
