Tomintoul Amarone Wine Cask Finish combines initial maturation in American oak ex-bourbon casks with a finishing period in Italian Amarone wine casks. Master Distiller Robert Fleming selected matured Tomintoul whiskies, which were married before the finish. Founded in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery is situated in Speyside within the Cairngorms National Park, close to the village of the same name. It uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills to make its whisky. Robert Fleming is a fourth-generation member of a family of Speyside distillers and, together with his team, oversees the production of Tomintoul single malts.
The distillery has belonged to Angus Dundee Distillers since August 2000, when they acquired it from Whyte & Mackay. Fleming and other long-serving team members were part of this change of ownership and continue to work on the distillery's development. In the Contemporary Cask Finish Collection, the deliberate selection of different wine casks broadens the Tomintoul brand's repertoire.
