Finishing in Caribbean rum casks shapes this small-batch whisky from Tomintoul. Master Distiller Robert Fleming selected whiskies that had initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks. The whiskies were then married and finished in hand-picked Caribbean Rum Barrels.

This bottling is part of the Cask Finish Collection, whose expressions use various wine and spirit casks for finishing. It carries no age statement and is offered at 40% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is fresh and bright. Raspberry blossoms, coconut oil and violet sweets mingle with the aroma of vanilla custard Danish pastries.
• Palate: On the palate, muscovado sugar, iced pastries and caramelised toffee combine with Lotus biscuits, nougat and coconut cream.
• Finish: Sweet notes on the finish recall butter caramel and chocolate éclairs. They gradually fade, leaving warming baking spices.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery lies near the village of the same name in the Cairngorms National Park, in Scotland’s Speyside region. It uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills. These elements contribute to the gentle, balanced character of its single malts.

Robert Fleming is a fourth-generation member of a family of Speyside distillers and has overseen Tomintoul for more than 30 years. Together with his team, he is responsible for producing its single malts; for this rum-cask bottling, he also selected the matured whiskies.
