Special Features:

For this small-batch release, a Madeira finish follows maturation in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Master Distiller Robert Fleming selects and marries the whiskies before allowing them to mature further in selected Madeira wine casks from Portugal’s Madeira Islands.

This release is part of the Cask Finish Collection and carries no age statement. It combines Tomintoul’s gentle house style with fruity, bakery-like and chocolate notes. The non-smoky single malt is bottled at 40%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, summer berries and spicy fruit notes meet ginger biscuits. Chocolate orange and baking spices add to the aroma.
• Palate: The palate reveals juicy cantaloupe melon, blackberries and candied citrus peel. Chocolate mousse, sweet oat biscuits with syrup and toasted oak complete the flavours.
• Finish: Cake spices and cocoa linger on the finish. Ripe banana, vanilla panna cotta and orange marmalade add further notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomintoul Distillery produces this single malt in Speyside. Founded in 1965, the distillery lies near its namesake village in the Cairngorms National Park and uses water from the Ballantruan spring. Its tall stills are a feature of its production, and its house style is soft and balanced.

Angus Dundee Distillers acquired the distillery from Whyte & Mackay in August 2000 and has operated it ever since. Master Distiller Robert Fleming is the fourth generation of a Speyside distilling family and has overseen Tomintoul for more than thirty years. He and his team are responsible for producing the single malts and selecting whiskies for the different bottlings.
