Special Features:

Tomintoul Peated adds a subtle campfire note to the distillery's sweet, fruity style. It is made by distilling peated barley malt, after which the whisky matures in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Alongside the smoke, nutty, sweet and spicy notes are central to its character.

The single malt is offered at 40% alcohol in a bottle containing 0.7 litres and comes in a gift tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines sweetness with sooty campfire smoke. Ginger biscuits, coffee grounds and smoked meat are joined by a subtle freshness reminiscent of nettles.
• Palate: On the palate, hazelnut and smoked bacon meet toffee with dark sugar syrup. Toasted oats, peat smoke and sweet liquorice complete the picture, while lemon zest adds a bright accent.
• Finish: The finish remains nutty and smoky. Coffee cake, bell pepper and toasted pecans mingle with gentle spice notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery lies near the village of the same name in Cairngorms National Park. It uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills to produce its whiskies. These help underpin the distillery's smooth, balanced style.

Master Distiller Robert Fleming comes from a family with four generations of distilling heritage in Speyside and has overseen Tomintoul for more than thirty years. Together with his team, he is responsible for producing its single malts. In Tomintoul Peated, peated malt adds a smoky dimension to the otherwise predominantly sweet, fruity style.
