Boann Irish Whiskey Madeira Casks
Special features: This Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey begins its journey in heavily charred ex-bourbon barrels made from American oak (Quercus Alba) from Brown-Forman. It then receives a noble finish in Madeira wine casks made from French oak (Quercus Robur), which previously housed various Madeira Colheita wines from Justino’s. This combination gives the whiskey remarkable depth and complexity. Bottled at 47% alcohol by volume, not chill-filtered and without coloring, it preserves its authentic character.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: A vibrant bouquet with seductive aromas of apples and peaches, accompanied by honey notes and a hint of roasted oak, underlined by floral nuances.
- Palate: Velvety-soft texture with flavors of peach cream, layered with vanilla, walnuts, dried fruit cake, and a delicate minerality.
- Finish: Long and clear with fresh lemon oil and a lingering, spicy note.
Distillery/Bottler: The Boann Distillery, named after the river goddess Boann, was founded in 2015 and is located in the heart of the Boyne Valley in Ireland. As a family-run distillery, it places great importance on traditional methods and exclusively uses locally grown Irish grains. Through innovative aging processes, such as the use of Madeira casks, it creates whiskeys with unique character and depth.
