Irish Reserve brings together the work of Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk and Berry Bros. & Rudd’s selection for its Classic Range. The distillery makes it exclusively from malted barley and matures the whiskey in oak casks. Berry Bros. & Rudd bottles the single malt at 44.2% alcohol without added colouring.

Grassy and herbal impressions meet bright fruit in its profile. Vanilla cream, lime and ripe apples shape the aroma; on the palate, vanilla and soft fruit combine with a creamy, slightly oily texture. Fresh apple acidity provides a counterpoint before a dry finish leaves a delicate citrus note.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Vanilla cream, lively spice and lime come together on the nose, followed by a more pronounced aroma of ripe apples.
• Palate: On the palate, vanilla and soft fruit meet a creamy, slightly oily texture. Fresh apple acidity balances the rounded mouthfeel.
• Finish: The finish is long and dry, leaving a delicate citrus note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Great Northern Distillery is based in Dundalk on the site of a former brewery that became a distillery in 2015. It makes several styles of Irish whiskey, using copper pot stills for malt whiskey and column stills for grain whiskey. Irish Reserve is also distilled and matured there.

Berry Bros. & Rudd is a family-run London wine and spirits merchant. Its history began in 1698 with a shop opposite St James’s Palace; the company still trades from No. 3 St James’s Street. For its Classic Range, it selects whiskeys and bottles them under its own name.
