This miniature set explores three different cask influences within the Jameson family. It contains Jameson Original, Jameson Black Barrel and Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition, each in a bottle containing 0.05 litres. All three blended Irish whiskeys have an alcohol content of 40%; the total volume is 0.15 litres.

Jameson Original combines triple-distilled pot still and grain whiskeys matured for at least four years in oak casks. Light floral sweetness and spicy wood accompany its smooth, nutty vanilla flavour with a delicate sherry accent. Black Barrel, by contrast, uses bourbon and sherry casks alongside double charring of the cask wood. This cask treatment shapes its butterscotch and toffee notes and its intense finish of toasted wood and vanilla.

Caskmates Stout Edition grew out of an exchange of whiskey and beer casks. The triple-distilled blend is finished in casks that previously held Irish craft beer. Alongside cocoa and subtle hops, it reveals coffee notes; milk chocolate and butterscotch shape its sweet finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Black Barrel offers aromas of butterscotch, fudge and creamy toffee. Freshly cut hay opens the Stout Edition’s nose, complemented by green apples, pears and lime zest. Gentle pot still spice develops from green tea into hazelnut and milk chocolate.
• Palate: Black Barrel reveals pronounced nutty notes alongside gentle sweet spice and vanilla. The Stout Edition is initially sweet on the palate. Subtle hop and cocoa bean notes from the beer-cask finish soon complement this impression.
• Finish: Black Barrel leaves a rich, intense finish of toasted wood and vanilla. The Stout Edition has a long, sweet finish with milk chocolate and butterscotch.

Distillery/Bottler:

Jameson’s history begins in 1780 on Bow Street in Dublin. John Jameson, who came from Alloa in Scotland, established a distilling family whose work continued over several generations. Malt taxation at the time encouraged experiments with malted and unmalted barley—a combination that became important to the Irish pot still style.

Jameson has been produced in Midleton, County Cork, since 1975. The brand has belonged to Pernod Ricard since 1988. Triple distillation and the combination of pot still and grain whiskeys form the foundation of the classic Jameson blend; the selection and treatment of maturation casks create different flavour profiles within the family.
