Teeling Amber Ale Cask Finish brings together two Dublin drinks producers through a cycle of cask sharing. Teeling supplied DOT Brew with whiskey casks, which the brewery then used to mature Amber Ale. The beer-seasoned casks subsequently returned to Teeling for the whiskey's finishing period.

Part of the Teeling Collaboration series, this release is based on Teeling Small Batch. Initial maturation in bourbon casks is followed by a 15-month finish in the Amber Ale casks. This period refers to the finishing stage, not the whiskey's total age. Hops and citrus fruit complement vanilla and caramel, while red apples add another fruity note.

The whiskey is bottled at 46% in 0.7-litre bottles. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, citrus notes and vanilla mingle with hops and a little wood.
• Palate: On the palate, caramel and vanilla meet citrus fruit, hops and red apples.
• Finish: Sweet citrus notes shape the medium-length finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Teeling family's history in Dublin whiskey dates back to 1782, when Walter Teeling opened a small distillery on Marrowbone Lane. Jack and Stephen Teeling began building the present-day whiskey company in 2012. In 2015, they opened their new distillery in the Liberties district, close to the family's historic site. It was Dublin's first new distillery in more than 125 years.

Unconventional approaches to maturation are part of Teeling's working methods. Its limited-edition collaborations explore additional cask influences through partnerships with other drinks producers. Teeling avoids chill filtration before bottling to preserve the body and aromatic character of its whiskeys.
