Teeling Wonders of Wood - Virgin Carpathian Oak (Fourth Edition)

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 50% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

The fourth Wonders of Wood edition puts Carpathian oak centre stage: the whiskey matured entirely in virgin casks made from this wood. Its tight grain and high tannin content contribute spice alongside hints of sandalwood and fruit. Teeling makes this single pot still whiskey from equal parts malted and unmalted barley and triple-distils it in Dublin.

Rosewater and candied fruit mingle with freshly cut wood on the nose. On the palate, apple and pear soften the pronounced spice, joined by sandalwood. Puff pastry and campfire smoke shape the clean finish. The whiskey is bottled at 50% ABV without chill filtration. With each Wonders of Wood edition, Teeling works with the Tree Council of Ireland to support the planting of native trees in Ireland.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Rosewater and candied fruit mingle with the scent of freshly cut wood on the nose.
• Palate: On the palate, apple and pear round out the pronounced spice, with sandalwood alongside them.
• Finish: The clean finish fades with notes of puff pastry and campfire smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Teeling Whiskey Distillery stands in the Liberties, Dublin’s historic distilling district. Jack and Stephen Teeling opened it in 2015 near the site where Walter Teeling had founded a distillery in 1782. For the Wonders of Wood series, the company uses its Dublin-distilled single pot still whiskey to explore how different woods influence maturation. This fourth edition is matured exclusively in virgin Carpathian oak.
