West Cork Maritime 5. y.o. - Sherry Cask 43%

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 43% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: No

Special Features:

This five-year-old Maritime expression combines the character of an Irish single malt with the influence of sherry casks. Two founders of West Cork Distillers were formerly deep-sea fishermen; their past inspired the series’ distinctive spherical bottle. Its offset opening makes pouring easier. The distillery bottles the whiskey at 43% ABV without added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, raisins, prunes and vanilla mingle with mild spice, almonds and roasted nuts.
• Palate: Ripe figs and creamy caramel meet oak on the palate. The whiskey tastes sweet at first, with a soft, rounded feel.
• Finish: The lingering finish brings together roasted hazelnuts, dry wood and spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

West Cork Distillers began in County Cork, Ireland, in 2003 as a project of the McCarthy cousins and John O’Connell. The first spirits were distilled in a small room in one founder’s home. As the business grew, the distillery moved to Skibbereen; since 2020, it has operated a larger facility there on Marsh Road. Its operations include distilling, cask maturation and bottling.
