A finish in Panamanian rum casks complements this West Cork Single Malt’s maturation in first-fill bourbon casks. The whiskey initially matured for four years in bourbon casks, followed by six months in rum casks from Consorcio Licorero Nacional in Panama. Developed for the German market, this small-batch release comprises 3,060 bottles and was bottled at natural cask strength of 54.7%. Honey, vanilla and chocolate combine with roasted coffee, exotic fruit and coconut. This triple-distilled single malt is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Mild, spicy honey and fresh vanilla pod give way to milk chocolate and roasted coffee beans. A light hint of fruit remains in the background.
• Palate: The whiskey feels soft and mouth-filling on the palate. Intense papaya and mango notes emerge alongside coconut, with coffee and chocolate in the background.
• Finish: The finish is soft, rounded and medium in length. Fruit combines with roasted coffee beans, vanilla and chocolate.

Distillery/Bottler:

West Cork Distillers produces this official distillery bottling, carrying out distillation, maturation and bottling at its site in Skibbereen, Ireland. The business began in 2003 in a small room at the back of Denis McCarthy’s house. It moved to Market Street in 2014, and the current distillery on Marsh Road opened in 2020. As the company grew, it built some of the equipment it needed itself. Today, its distillation equipment includes 16 pot stills and three column stills. Five bottling lines and seven warehouses are located on the distillery grounds; the warehouses can accommodate up to 55,000 casks.
