Special features: This blended malt whisky combines the tradition of two renowned Japanese distilleries: Chichibu and the now-closed Hanyu Distillery. The Hanyu Distillery, founded in 1941, was closed in 2000, with some of the whisky being kept in barrels. In 2008, Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the Hanyu founder, opened the Chichibu Distillery. For this special whisky, the malts from both distilleries were combined, resulting in a complex and harmonious tasting experience.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: An enchanting scent of jasmine unfolds, accompanied by juicy apricots, exotic mango, a variety of citrus fruits, and vanilla aromas. A hint of pine branches and mountain mint adds a fresh note, while rose and violet scents round off the bouquet.
• Palate: Dark chocolate is overlain by a wave of mandarin aroma. Soft walnut notes and hints of dried fruits linger.
• Finish: Long-lasting sweet with a subtle bitterness reminiscent of dark chocolate. Fine vanilla notes, fresh grass, exotic fruits, and a fruity spice leaning towards malt and sour cherries dominate the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler: The Chichibu Distillery was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto and has quickly gained a reputation for high-quality whiskies. It places great emphasis on sustainability and local production, utilizing its own malteries and traditional Scottish pot stills. The Hanyu Distillery, founded in 1941, was closed in 2000, with some of the whisky being kept in barrels. This whisky combines the tradition of both distilleries and reflects the philosophy of Ichiro Akuto.
