Heather honey and aromatic peat smoke define this twelve-year-old Highland Park. The single malt matures predominantly in sherry-seasoned casks made from European and American oak. Seville oranges and fruitcake combine with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves to create a sweet, spicy flavour profile.

The gift pack contains one bottle holding 0.7 litres at 40% alcohol and two glasses. This is an official distillery bottling with no added colouring.

Distillery/Bottler:

Highland Park is based in Kirkwall on Scotland’s Orkney Islands, where it has been making whisky since 1798. The distillery malts some of its barley on traditional malting floors. The germinating grain is turned by hand; during the subsequent kiln drying, peat from nearby Hobbister Moor provides the characteristic smoke.

The heather-rich peat gives the smoke its floral character. Sherry casks are another foundation of the distillery’s style: casks made from American and European oak are built in Spain for Highland Park and seasoned with sherry for around two years before travelling to Orkney for whisky maturation. The subsequent selection and marrying of the whiskies from these casks also forms part of the distillery’s approach.
