Special features: This limited release from the Uniquely Islay Series An T-Earrach 2025 presents a Kilchoman Single Malt that matured for seven years in a fresh Sauternes hogshead. With a phenol content of 50 ppm and bottled at natural cask strength of 57.8% Vol. The edition comprises only 294 bottles, making it a coveted rarity for collectors and connoisseurs.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Sweet wine notes, butterscotch, floral accents, and a hint of white chocolate – underlined by gentle smoke.
- Palate: Creamy and lush, with notes of ripe peach, honey, and vanilla. The intense sweetness is contrasted by well-integrated peat smoke, providing depth and complexity.
- Finish: Long, soft, and sweet – with floral notes, lingering fruitiness, and an elegant smoke signature.
Distillery/Bottler: The Kilchoman Distillery, founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills, is the first new distillery on Islay in 124 years. It is located in the northwest of the island on the Rockside Farm and is known for its "Farm Distillery" philosophy, where part of the barley is grown on its own fields. Kilchoman is the only distillery on Islay that is not directly by the sea, which gives the whisky a unique profile.
