MARS Malt DuoTsunuki x Akkeshi
Special features: This limited blended malt whisky combines the craftsmanship of two Japanese distilleries: Tsunuki and Akkeshi. The raw distillates were exchanged in 2018 and further processed in their respective distilleries, resulting in a unique tasting experience. The maturation mainly took place in bourbon casks, adding extra depth to the whisky.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Inviting aromas of ripe red apples and grilled pineapple, accompanied by a hint of dried figs.
- Palate: Full-bodied with notes of hazelnuts, fresh mint, and a touch of nutmeg, providing complexity.
- Finish: Long and warming, with a balanced interplay of the previously mentioned aromas.
Distillery/Bottler: The Mars Tsunuki Distillery, founded in 2016, is located in southern Kagoshima and is known for its innovative production methods. The Akkeshi Distillery, also founded in 2016, is situated on the cooler Hokkaido peninsula and is characterized by its traditional craftsmanship. Both distilleries belong to Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd., a renowned Japanese company with a long history in spirits production.
