This 13-year-old single malt was matured for the travel-retail edition in American oak casks and Oloroso sherry butts. The American oak contributes creamy vanilla and caramel sweetness, while the sherry casks add fruit, spice and depth of flavour. After maturation, the whiskies from the two cask types were married.

Spiced red apple, plum purée and honeydew melon sit alongside cinnamon pastries, caramel and vanilla cream. On the palate, apple strudel and raspberry jam meet golden syrup, butterscotch and ginger. The whisky is bottled at 40% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals spiced red apple, plum purée and honeydew melon, accompanied by cinnamon pastries, caramel and vanilla cream.
• Palate: On the palate, freshly baked apple strudel, golden syrup and butterscotch mingle with raspberry jam, while ginger adds a spicy accent.
• Finish: The finish remains sweet and juicy, fades with gentle spice and leaves a lingering caramel note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Aberlour Distillery stands in the Speyside village of the same name, near where the Lour joins the River Spey. James Fleming founded the distillery in 1879. For its Double Cask bottlings, Aberlour matures whisky in American oak and sherry casks before marrying the whiskies from both cask types.

Aberlour works with longstanding bodega partners to prepare its sherry casks. Pernod Ricard manages Aberlour as a brand, and Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail is responsible for this 13-year-old travel-retail release. The whisky is an official bottling.
