Special Features:

The Oloroso finish shapes this ten-year-old Aberlour distilled in 2014. After 14 months in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead made from European oak, James Eadie bottled the whisky from cask #378484 in 2025. Part of the spring 2025 release, this single-cask bottling yielded 362 bottles of 0.7 litres at 58.9% alcohol. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

The finishing period gives the malty foundation a distinctly sherry-sweet, nutty and fruity side. Dark dried fruit and orange marmalade sit alongside praline, toasted hazelnut and cocoa, balanced by spicy oak. Pear, date and banana also feature in this cask’s flavour profile.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, raisin syrup, baked apple and orange marmalade mingle with oak, a hint of cinnamon and toffee with a dark sugar syrup note. Sugared almonds, sultanas and fruitcake dusted with icing sugar join a touch of maple syrup.
• Palate: The palate opens with fig jam, chocolate fudge and sweet malt in a silky texture. Praline with a clove note, toasted hazelnut and candied citrus peel follow; ripe fig is also accompanied by date, pear and banana.
• Finish: The finish is warming and turns slightly dry. Sherry fruitcake, gentle oak tannins and vanilla malt linger, with a suggestion of sticky toffee pudding.

Distillery/Bottler:

James Fleming founded Aberlour in 1879 in the Speyside village of the same name, beside the River Lour. The distillery uses water from the nearby Birkenbush springs and barley from local farms. Aberlour makes the spirit; James Eadie selected the cask and determined the finish for this independent bottling.

James Eadie was a Scottish brewer who founded a brewing and bottling business in 1854 and served his whisky in his pubs. His great-great-grandson Rupert Patrick runs the brand today. Its range includes single casks, small batches and carefully chosen cask finishes; this Aberlour cask appeared in the Limited series.
