Special Features:

This 11-year-old Speyside single malt from the Benchmark Spring Release 2026 combines Aberlour’s sweet, barley-forward base character with a carefully chosen PX finish. Distilled in 2014, the whisky initially matured in a refill sherry butt. It was then finished in three fresh PX sherry barriques from Bodegas Ximénez-Spínola, numbered 2400909, 2400910 and 2400911. The three casks yielded a total of 901 bottles in spring 2026.

The PX finish adds a silky sweetness to the whisky’s sweet, barley-forward base character. Ripe fruit, orange peel and creamy malt form its fruity, malty side. Honey, soft toffee and a hint of berries provide sweet accents, while a hint of mocha and gentle oak join the fruit on the finish.

The whisky was bottled at 57.2% in a 0.7-litre bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

• Palate: The palate offers thick honey, soft toffee and a hint of berries.
• Finish: The finish remains fruity, with a hint of mocha and gentle oak lingering.

Distillery/Bottler:

Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1879 by local banker James Fleming in the Speyside village of the same name, near the banks of the River Spey. The sweet, barley-forward whisky used for this bottling was distilled there in 2014.

Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by London wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Now based at Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, the independent bottler’s “Art of Maturation” focuses on further maturation in carefully selected casks, particularly wine casks. The Benchmark range forms the core of its portfolio and centres on single malts with varied cask maturation. For this Aberlour, Murray McDavid was responsible for the PX finish and the bottling in spring 2026.
