Hapsburg Quartier Latin Cassis brings blackcurrant to absinthe’s herbal base. The recipe combines wormwood and other herbs with cassis flavours. It also contains natural cassis distillate and the colouring E133, which gives the absinthe its striking blue colour.

Quartier Latin is the lower-alcohol absinthe range within the Hapsburg portfolio: at 53.5%, it sits below Classic at 72.5% and X.C at 89.9%. The Cassis variant is made in Italy and comes in a 0.5-litre bottle. It can be prepared with ice-cold water or combined with a mixer to make a long drink or cocktail.

The range takes its name from Paris’s Quartier Latin and its artistic and café life. The colourful street scene on the label also reflects this theme.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Intense blackcurrant aromas lead on the nose, accompanied by herbs.
• Palate: The absinthe is full-bodied and rounded on the palate. Sweet cassis notes combine with its herbal character and a slight bitterness.
• Finish: The long finish remains fruity, leaving sweet-tart cassis notes alongside a subtle herbal note.

Hapsburg was founded in 1999 and belongs to Wine and Spirit International. Alongside its classic absinthe, the brand developed several flavoured ranges. While Classic focuses on a traditional herbal character, the fruity X.C and Quartier Latin variants are also designed for mixed drinks and cocktails. In addition to Cassis, Quartier Latin includes Original, Red Summer Fruits and Black Fruits of the Forest.
