Adriatico Amaretto Zero is based on roasted Filippo Cea almonds from Puglia. Their distillate forms the foundation of this alcohol-free amaretto alternative. Cane sugar, natural flavourings and a pinch of sea salt from the Adriatic complete the recipe. The recipe also contains the acidifier E338, the stabiliser gum arabic, the colouring E150d and the preservatives E202 and E211. Zero contains less sugar than a traditional amaretto.

Zero is produced and bottled in Puglia and is Vegan OK-certified. It can be enjoyed over ice, used in alcohol-free cocktails or added to desserts such as tiramisu and affogato. In the glass, it has a mahogany-brown colour.

The bottle contains 0.7 litres. Once opened, it should be kept in the refrigerator and its contents consumed within eight weeks.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The intense nose combines bitter almond with caramel, tonka bean, pepper and vanilla. A hint of gardenia blossom rounds out the bouquet.
• Palate: On the palate, Zero is silky and syrupy, both sweet and fresh. Roasted almond and almond cream meet ripe banana, citrus and cocoa, with a light cherry-stone note.
• Finish: The long finish feels oily. Maraschino cherry, coffee, hazelnut, pine resin and gingerbread linger alongside herbal and woody notes and a hint of salt.

Distillery/Bottler:

Jean-Robert Bellanger developed the idea for Adriatico from a childhood memory: his Italian mother used amaretto to enhance her tiramisu. This inspired a brand whose almond base comes from Puglia. For traditional amaretto production, the almonds are harvested by hand, roasted for several hours, macerated and then distilled. Zero also uses a distillate of roasted almonds, but has its own alcohol-free recipe.

Adriatico belongs to Bellaventura S.A. The brand's design reflects its origins in Puglia: blue and gold evoke the sea and sunlight, while the trullo in the logo recalls the region's traditional dry-stone houses.
