Special features: The Akashi Blue Blended Whisky is produced at the renowned White Oak Distillery in the city of Akashi, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. Under the guidance of an experienced Sake Master (Toji), this whisky combines traditional Japanese distilling art with modern techniques. The aging process begins in Shochu barrels made of American white oak for about two years, followed by a finish in sherry and bourbon barrels, contributing to its complex flavor development.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Mild-fruity with nuances of green apple, orange peel, and honey, underlined by vanilla and subtle oak spices as well as white pepper.
• Palate: Soft and balanced with bright fruitiness, vanilla, a light grain note, and finely tuned sweetness. Complemented by peppery spice, cinnamon, and a subtle hint of smoke.
• Finish: Medium to long, elegant and clear with fruity-woody notes, slightly spicy and finishing with fine sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler: The White Oak Distillery, also known as Eigashima Shuzo, was founded in 1888 and is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Japan. It is known for the production of sake and shochu and began whisky production in 1984. Under the guidance of a Toji (Sake Master), traditional techniques are combined with modern methods to create high-quality whiskies.
