Special Features:

This unpeated Man O'Words single cask underwent a two-stage Double Oaked Ex-Bourbon maturation. The whisky, distilled in 2017, initially matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel before being transferred to a new first-fill bourbon barrel. Annandale bottled it from cask 1639 in 2023 at a cask strength of 60.7%, with an outturn of 261 bottles. The whisky has no added colouring and is non-chill-filtered.

Vanilla, citrus, apple and pear form the fruity, sweet side, complemented by malt, toffee, caramel and oak spice. Cooked apple and a nutty note shape the long finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings together gentle vanilla and vibrant citrus notes with green fruit, fresh apple, pear and a malty accent.
• Palate: On the palate, vanilla, butterscotch, barley sugar, caramel and creamy toffee combine with delicate spice and oak spice.
• Finish: The finish is long, with lingering oak spice and citrus accompanied by a nutty note and the sweetness of cooked apples.

Distillery/Bottler:

This distillery bottling comes from Annandale Distillery, with Annandale Distillery Company LTD responsible for bottling it. The distillery has operated its own bottling hall since October 2022, keeping distillation, maturation and bottling on site in Annan.

The historic site near Annan was established between 1830 and 1836. Following its closure in 1918, production ceased for almost a century. Professor David Thomson and Teresa Church acquired the dormant site in 2007, restored the distillery and resumed production on 9 November 2014. Dr Jim Swan designed the new production setup with two spirit stills. Man O'Words is Annandale's unpeated range inspired by Robert Burns, while Man O'Sword represents its peated whisky and refers to Robert the Bruce. The distillery bottles its single-cask whiskies one cask at a time, without marrying whisky from different casks.
