Special Features:

The Hearts Collection explores Appleton Estate's pure pot-still character. The 2002 vintage uses only distillates from a single marque, meaning a particular distillery style. The rum was distilled in a Forsyth pot still and then matured for twenty years in Jamaica. Joy Spence and Luca Gargano selected twenty casks for this edition.

Bottled in 2022, the rum comes from casks 404082 to 404101. The worldwide release comprises 5,700 bottles at 63% alcohol. Its total congener content is 834 grams per 100 litres of pure alcohol. The bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, orange and oily citrus peel mingle with exotic fruit. With air, spiced apple tart, caramelised apples, roasted apricots and peaches unfold; the exotic fruit then becomes even more pronounced.
• Palate: The palate is intense and warming, without harsh edges. Exotic fruit and spices meet coppery and resinous impressions alongside oily citrus peel.
• Finish: An oily, clinging texture remains in the finish. Soft tannins combine with guava and quince paste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Appleton Estate lies in the Nassau Valley in the heart of Jamaica, with a history dating back to 1749. For its rums, the estate uses water from a nearby spring, naturally filtered through limestone. Master Blender Joy Spence was the first woman to hold this position in the spirits industry. For the Hearts Collection, she selects individual marques from the distillery's extensive stocks rather than combining different distillery styles into a traditional house blend.
