Special Features:

A finish in a first-fill Oloroso sherry barrique shapes this single-cask release from The WhiskyHeroes series. Distilled in 2013, the Ardmore matured for eleven years and comes from cask 800218/2013. The whisky from that cask yielded 220 bottles at 55.9%. It was bottled without chill filtration or added colouring.

The Highland malt’s smoke remains distinct alongside the fruity and chocolate notes of the Oloroso finish. Dried fruit and raisins contrast with pepper and oak, while vinous sherry sweetness adds another dimension.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings dense peat and cedarwood smoke, dark earth, dried figs and dates. Raisins and black pepper provide subtler accents.
• Palate: On the palate, peat smoke and creamy milk chocolate meet raisins, dates and figs. Dark berries, candied orange peel and a nutty note add to the sherry influence, balanced by pepper and a little oak spice.
• Finish: The finish is long, dry and warming. Woodsmoke and sherry linger with bittersweet chocolate, dried fruit and peppery spice, alongside notes of candied ginger and nuts.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ardmore distils peated single malt in Kennethmont in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery stands beside a railway line that once allowed its founder, Adam Teacher, to bring in materials from Glasgow. Its water comes from springs on Knockandy Hill.

Brave New Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow. For The WhiskyHeroes, it selects single casks and small batches from various Scottish distilleries. Its labels, inspired by vintage action comics, are designed in-house. For Fury of the Obsidian Colossus, it chose a smoky Ardmore with an Oloroso finish.
